2.4 million light years, is the distance from the earth to the giant Andromeda Galaxy. Andromeda is the closest big galaxy to our Milky Way. At 2.4 million light-years, it’s the most distant thing you can see with the eye alone

You can see it easily as a dim, large gray “cloud” almost directly overhead in a clear night sky. Andromeda galaxy is the largest galaxy in the Local Group, more than twice the size of the Milky Way. It is estimated to host more than a trillion stars, making it four times larger than our very own Milky Way Galaxy.
