There has been an ongoing rumor that the president of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo has tested positive for coronavirus, and that the government is keeping this a secret from the general public. The Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, speaking at a press conference on Wednesday denied such rumors and cautioned persons to desist from the practice of spreading fake news. He advised that people should propagate the preventive etiquette which includes hand washing, social distancing, among others to be practiced to help fight the coronavirus outbreak, instead of using their platforms to spread fake news or falsehood.
He also added that they are not going to employ celebrities as ambassadors and pay them to create awareness about COVID-19. He clarified that government is, however, seeking to work with people who have large followings on social media to disseminate information on the pandemic.
