In an ongoing development at the office of the Electoral Commission, the Minority in Parlament, made up of members of Parliament on the NDC’s ticket have clashed with personnel of the Ghana Police Service in an attempt to storm the office of the EC.
The MPs stormed the premises of the Electoral Commission in protest of the results of the 2020 General elections, demanding open collation of the Techiman South parliamentary results.
What started as a peaceful protest by the NDC MPs to submit their petition to the Electoral Commission nearly took a different turn, as the Police stopped them from entering the premises of the EC in a standoff.
The police mounted a barricade to prevent them from nearing the office. Unhappy about how they were being treated by the police, the Minority who went out to protest resisted the attempt by the police officers to draw them back to the other side of the road away from the EC’s office.
