Togo has registered its first case of Coronavirus, Friday 6th March 2020.
The patient is a 42-year-old woman who resides in Lome, the nation’s capital.
The patient, prior to being diagnosed, had visited Benin, Germany, France and Turkey in late February and early March, all coronavirus registered regions.
The patient has since been isolated and receiving medical treatment and around the clock surveillance.
Health officials say she is currently in a stable condition.
Authorities are urging the public to remain calm and not to panic, Togo’s Prime Minister Komi Klassou said all persons who had come into contact with the patient in the last couple of days have been identified and quarantined according to international health regulations.
