CORONAVIRUS: Ghana Confirms 7th positive case of COVID-19

17 March 2020 at 3:00pm today, The Ghana Health Service received report from Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research that indicated one (1) more confirmed case as positive for COVID-19 in Greater Accra Region, making the total cases 7.

Disease Surveillance Department of the Ghana Health Service has recorded the 7th COVID-19 case.

The new 7th case is a 35-year old Ghanaian citizen(male) who returned from France within the past 14 days.

Ghana Health Service has disclosed that a total of 350 contacts have been traced from the earlier 6 confirmed #COVID19 cases in Greater Accra. Follow up for these contacts have commenced.

However, the new 7th recorded case could surge the total number of traced contacts.

Health officials advised the general public not to panic but assured that they are doing all they can to contain the situation, the public is also advised to avoid all public places and crowded areas and practice good personal hygiene.
